Slopit Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 15, 2026
What Slopit Does
Slopit is a Chrome extension that analyzes social media posts for AI-generated content. When you click "Rate This Slop," the extension reads the text content of the post on your current page and sends it to our server for analysis.
What Data We Collect
- Post text content: When you initiate a scan, the text of the post on the current page is sent to our server for analysis. This text is not stored and is discarded immediately after generating your score.
- Platform type: We detect which platform you're on (LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) to tailor the scoring. This is not stored.
- Scan count: We track how many scans you've used today, stored locally in your browser. This data never leaves your device.
What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email, or any personal information.
- We do not collect your browsing history.
- We do not track which pages you visit.
- We do not store the content of posts you scan.
- We do not use cookies or any tracking technologies.
- We do not sell or share any data with third parties.
Third-Party Services
Post text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to that processing. No other third-party services receive your data.
Data Storage
All extension data (scan counts, recent results) is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. No data is stored on our servers beyond the duration of a single API request.
Permissions
- activeTab: To read the content of the current page when you click the extension.
- storage: To save your scan count and recent results locally in your browser.
- scripting: To inject the content extraction script into the current page.
